Round Robin at Grange

-

Traditional rivals got together for their annual round-robin day at Grange on October 15.

Teams from Master Builders, Customs, RSL and our club played a series of three games from 9:30 am.

Our team was looking down the barrel after the first game, having lost 42-48 against the RSL. We managed only one win, which came from the rink of H. Herde.

We recovered well, however, with an all-rinks win against Master Builders.

At the end of the day the result was very close; we ran out narrow winners on 30 points after defeating the RSL, Master Builders (28) and Customs (10).

Wet weather threatened for some of the time, but all agreed the day was good.

MODBURY MIXED FOURS DAY

The mixed fours days at Modbury have become “must-participate” days, and 30 teams took part in an excellent day of bowling on October 24.

The winning rink was skippered by T. Gregory (54 points - two wins and 14 out of 23 ends won), followed closely by rinks L. Yeo, R. Lodge, M. Powell and H. Herde (each on 52 points).

Winners of the losers (one loss and one win) went to a rink skippered by R. Peters (33 points), defeating the rink of D. Terrell (also on 33 points) into second place on percentage.

POLICE Vs RSABA

Five rinks skippered by Lindsay Yeo, Nick Zuvich, Howard Herde, Alan Martin and Bob Peters took on the best of the RSABA for their annual challenge at Salisbury on October 28.

The game was conducted under lights from 7:30pm. Given the time of day, the weather was cool and the greens were running well.

The game was played “to the bell”, with one rink completing 18 ends.

In the end, good results from three winning rinks (Yeo seven up, Zuvich 18 up and Herde eight up) gave our boys victory over the RSABA by 87 to 56.

PAYNEHAM MIXED FOURS DAY

Whatever happened to all that sunshine?

Twenty-six teams gathered at Payneham on Sunday, November 7, for an afternoon of mixed fours.

The clouds threatened to dump more rain on the already damp greens. The first game was delayed and shortened to eight ends.

The bowlers eventually made their way onto the greens. After completing about three ends, the weather set in and the day was cancelled.
