Monthly Meeting
Sixty-two RPOA members attended their monthly general meeting at the Police Associations Fenwick Hall on September 2. Peter Linney entertained with songs from the 40s through to the current day.
Most popular were those songs made famous by Flannigan and Allen. Those present were reminded of their ages by the number of members who sang along with full knowledge of the lyrics.
And, members physical capacities were tested during the afternoon as a result of a breakdown of the Police Associations lift. Creaking bones were clearly evident.
Using The Police Club
Its greatly pleasing that RPOA members are supporting the Police Club. The RPOA is consistently booking a table for 17 each meeting day.
RPOA president, Les Morris, will meet Police Association president, Peter Alexander, to strengthen further the ties which already exist between the two organizations.
Annual Dinner
Raelene Holloway - who for the last several annual dinners has arranged name tags and seating - has asked that those going to the dinner book early. This will greatly assist her to arrange this years name tags.
Bookings can only be made up to and including October 7.
Committee History
The RPOAs recently re-elected committee is its longest serving. Two of its outstanding committee members are:
Lexton Teague Secretary 1989 - 1993. (life member) Vice President 1997 to present. Currently serving eighth year as committee member. Kenneth Phillips Committee member 1989 to present. (life member) Treasurer 1990 to present. Currently serving 11th year as committee member
Sick List
With recent warmer weather, fewer members are on the sick list, but the RPOA extends it sympathy to those currently suffering ill-health.
