Fifty-eight RPOA members attended their monthly meeting at Fenwick Hall on August 5. They were entertained by Barry Hall, who played songs of the 70s and 80s.
Members are urged to remember the RPOA picnic on October 24 and advise the secretary of their attendance. Prompt notification will greatly assist catering arrangements.
Members are also reminded of the annual dinner, which will be held on November 11. Details are:
- Time - 6pm for 6:30pm.
- Price - $17.
- Meal - three-course.
Each lady will receive an orchid. Payment for the dinner will be received up to October 31.
Aboard the Paddlesteamer Princess Andrea, 30 members enjoyed a boat trip from Murray Bridge on July 29. They cruised the Murray for about three hours in a happy, carefree fashion. At the same time, Alan Dwyer celebrated his 70th birthday for which Barb Thomson had prepared a straw hat-shaped fruit cake. A meal and joke session were also shared and enjoyed.
Members should remember that they can dine at the club. Prices are very reasonable.
The RPOAs regular driver, Cori DeWit, has been asked to prepare some mystery trips for next year. Advice of dates will be provided as soon as possible.
Retirees who have taken lump-sum payments and wish to join the RPOA should contact the (RPOA) secretary through PASA. The joining fee is $13. After applications are received membership cards are sent. Meetings are held on the first Thursday of each month - except January - at the Police Association building (level 1) at 2pm.
Those aware of anyone on the sick list should contact RPOA welfare officer, Tom Zacher.
