Acting in higher positions

If you are acting in a higher position and receiving a higher duties allowance your superannuation contributions to the Pension or Lump Sum superannuation schemes do not increase in line with your higher duties allowance. Even if you have been in receipt of a higher duties allowance for 12 months your superannuation contributions do not increase. Your superannuation contributions are reviewed once a year, based on your superannuation salary (highest permanent position held during your service) as at 31 March. Your superannuation contributions are then adjusted in the following July.

A higher duties allowance will only be taken into account when calculating a superannuation benefit if you have been receiving a higher duties allowance for 12 months continuously up to and including your last day of service.

Exit Credit Rates

The following table shows recent exit rates of return declared by the Board. These rates have been applied to the contribution accounts (member contributions plus interest) of members who have resigned during 1998-99 and have elected to take a withdrawal benefit which includes a cash payment and a preserved employer lump sum benefit.
