April Meeting

Forty-eight RPOA members attended their monthly meeting at Fenwick Hall on April 1. Apologies were:

Several members on the sick list were wished a speedy recovery by President Les Morris.

President Morris also reported on a letter which the RPOA sent to the Police Credit Union regarding charges. He read the Credit Union’s letter in response.

The names of those celebrating birthdays in April were announced by President Morris. The birthday song was sung, but it may be time for the Credit Union choir to be enlisted to sing at monthly meetings. The Credit Union now sponsors the choir.

The Credit Union’s happenings were reported on by Fiona, who requested retirees who have had the recent transaction fee debited from their accounts to contact her.

Alf Jarvis was guest speaker and spoke of the glorious sailing ships of yesteryear. Alf has sailed on these ships and spoke splendidly. In recent years some of us were able to view the Endeavour sailing up the gulf.

Coming Events

Members should remember to secure their seats on the river cruise set for 29 July. The cost is $30 per person and a bus will leave the Police Club at 8:30am sharp.

A list of members attending the police academy barbecue on 24 October is being compiled. Charlie Rumbelow and his dedicated chefs will cook, and if you haven’t partaken of their cuisine, now is the time to get your name on that list. In order for committee to cater for the day, we must know the number attending.

Entertainment

Coming entertainment will be Tiffany Entertainer (May meeting) and David Fewster (June meeting) by popular demand.
