Staffing Levels
Police Association members may be interested in the following tables that indicate the decline in staffing. The data has been sourced from the Commissioner of Police Annual Reports to Parliament.
The Year to Date (YTD) totals as at March 1999 are:
These tables indicate a decline in staffing. The Police Association has commenced a public awareness campaign to highlight this staffing crisis. Currently, SAPOL is 228 police officers down - based on recruitment versus attrition. Unless a commitment is given to fund recruitment against natural attrition, the problem will surely worsen.
