Australian Police Bowling Association - 41st Annual Carnival
The team is in the process of leaving for the Australian Police Bowling Association Carnival in Perth which is to be held from 18 to 24 April.
Preparations are already under way for the 42nd Carnival to be held in Adelaide in April, 2000.
Dispense with apathy
There seems to be a malaise among the membership of sporting clubs (not just lawn bowls) currently. The same people seem to be doing all the work all the time, while the rest are coasting and reaping the benefits. It reminds me of a cartoon I saw a long time ago. It depicted a coxed rowing eight. The cox and seven of the eight were rowing their hearts out, while number eight was sleeping.
The point is: your club needs you - now. It is in desperate need of new blood; bowlers who are prepared to be involved in a sport which relies on energetic volunteers. Members of the team receive a small subsidy for their trips interstate but are generally expected to meet their own expenses.
It should be remembered that the team going to Perth represents SAPOL. Its members compete not for personal glory but because of one factor common to all of them: their police backgrounds.
You can join in and become a member of this unique community. Make your goal to compete in the 42nd carnival.

How long does the season go for?
The pennant season runs from October until March with competition usually available at all clubs from September until April/May.
