New Committee

The club’s AGM was held on 3 December ’98 which resulted in some changes to the committee. Greg Trickett has become our new competition secretary while Dave Roy from South Coast Investigations is now treasurer. The new committee is keen to make ’99 an even better year than ’98.

Toy Run

The club’s last event in ’98 was the annual Toy Run on 13 December. About 20 club members and some of their families met at the Mobil service station behind the Airport before riding down to Anzac Highway.

They joined a huge number of other riders, travelled through Adelaide to the tollgate and eventually stopped at Hahndorf oval. After depositing the toys and inspecting the vast array of bikes, club members rode the short distance to the Echunga oval for a barbecue lunch. Then the skies opened up but, fortunately, shelter was close by.

Events Calendar

The committee met over a barbecue and drinks during the Christmas-New Year break and, after much discussion, a club calendar of events was devised which will please both dirt and road riders. It will incorporate some of the usual club campaways, trail rides, fundays and road rides, as well as some new locations to “explore”. Bernadette Reilly will organize social nights throughout the year, and annual events will also be held throughout ’99.

Superbikes

Vice President Haydn Abbott has again organized a ride to Phillip Island to see the World Superbikes. The dates this year are April 15 to 20 inclusive. We will leave on Thursday, stop at Warrnambool overnight and travel the Great Ocean Rd to the Island on Friday. After the weekend’s festivities, we will leave Monday and stay at Horsham overnight, then travel to Adelaide on Tuesday. Again, we have accommodation three kilometres from the track and will also have a back-up car and trailer. Anyone interested in participating should contact Haydn or me for further details.

Meetings

Club meetings are still held on the first Thursday night of every month beginning at 8:00pm at the Police Club. Anyone interested in motorcycling (road or dirt) should contact any committee member.
