Events

There being no monthly members’ meeting in January 1999, the committee had its usual meeting and has planned several day trips, the annual dinner (11 November 1999 at the Police Club) and the annual picnic (Sunday 24 October 1999), which has been confirmed with the Police Academy’s officer-in-charge.

A day-trip cruise on the Murray at Mannum - planned for 29 July 1999 - will leave from the Police Club. The two-and-a-half-hour cruise will be taken after morning tea at Birdwood. A two-course luncheon will be served during the cruise and a bus with seating capacity of 46 will return passengers to the Police Club at 5:30pm. Bookings ($30.00 per person) will open at the April meeting. Payment may also be made by mail as of 1 April 1999.

Regional Luncheon

The next regional members’ luncheon will be held at the Barossa Motor Lodge on 29 April 1999. Letters have been sent to the 27 members and their partners inviting them to the luncheon at 11:30am for a midday start. Three replies have been received to that invitation.

Those with very busy social and business calendars should make sure that these events are recorded in their diaries. Any one with any ideas for future day trips should let me know.

Committee Aspirants

It is time for those who aspire to positions on committee to make themselves mentally prepared for either the July AGM, or a future election. Contact President Les Morris who will take your name and contact you at an appropriate time.

Sick List

To those who have been, or are still on the sick list, the RPOA wishes you a speedy recovery. I thank you all for the numerous cards, phone calls and the most beautiful flower arrangement which I received during my recent stay in hospital. I also thank the assistant secretary who handled the workload during my absence.
