COPLAND

In Garrison, New Jersey the police own the city - or so they think. They were looking for a refuge - somewhere to get away from the crime they deal with on a daily basis. The idea may have been good, but things went wrong. Citizens and other officers began dying. If there were no criminals in the town, who was responsible? Many slain officers mysteriously re-appeared in other cities (with new identities and sources of income). There’s only so much the sheriff (Sylvester Stallone) can take. It was their town but they were his people. Someone had to bring them to justice.

Copland is a new release for sale by Roadshow Entertainment and available in stores now. Also starring in the movie are Harvey Keitel, Ray Liotta and Robert De Niro. For the opportunity to win a Copland video or one of three t-shirts, put your details on the back of a used envelope and address it to Mike Horsfall, Sturt Police Station (12) Copland.

BE MY VALENTINE - CHARLIE BROWN

All the Charlie Brown stars are full of the usual character, charm and wit, and Be My Valentine brings them almost to life. Originally released in 1975, the video comes complete with all the quirky tunes and crazy antics. It’s priced at $29.95 and available now.

IN THE OPEN

The inaugural Bundaleer Forest Concert Weekend will be one of the largest events to be held in regional South Australia and will take place over April 17 and 18.

The Bundaleer Forest is the birthplace of Australian plantation forestry and contains more than 100 varieties of mature deciduous trees. The Jamestown Golf Tournament (in the forest) and the Jamestown Fly-in (which attracts thousands of light aircraft enthusiasts) will take place on the same weekend.

A highlight of the program will be an evening concert under the stars set in the natural auditorium of the forest. There’ll be performances by internationally acclaimed SA groups and artists:

A gourmet supper will be held after the concert and patrons can party until late with Celtic rock band The Borderers.

The Bundaleer Forest Concert Weekend activities will begin at 4:00pm Saturday 17 April when patrons can mingle in a festive atmosphere on the oval adjacent to the concert area among local produce stalls, buskers and farming demonstrations. Children will be entertained with a concert by Taz Razzle.

Sunday 18 April festivities will begin with a breakfast among the trees followed by walks through the forest, complimented by 16 performance sites which will combine artistic and sporting displays. Bookings are through all Bass outlets.

ON CD

TRANSCENDENTAL HIGHWAY

Already an accomplished performer from his early work in Men at Work, Colin Hay now shows himself to be far more seasoned. His latest release Transcendental Highway has already received ARIA Award nomination after its Australian release late last year and a subsequent US release.

Described as “powerful”, “lush”, “heartfelt” and “sublime”, the CD features powerful vocals and passionate lyrics coming right from the heart. The choice tracks areDon’t Believe You Anymore and If I Go. Take time to listen to Transcendental Highway at least twice to absorb the depth of the music and vocals. One for refined listeners.
