Dear Peter

Please accept my resignation from the Police Association of South Australia due to my resignation from the Police Force as of Wednesday, 18 November, 1998.

The reason for my resignation is that my wife and I have purchased the Todd Tavern Hotel, Alice Springs.

I would like to thank all of those members who I have been associated with over the last 27 years.

I invite anyone passing through Alice Springs to call in.

Yours faithfully
Ray Loechel
Detective Senior Constable

Dear Peter

Please accept my resignation from the Police Association effective 27 November, 1998.

Having reached the grand old age of 50 I have decided to pursue another career.

My wife and I have purchased the Oyster Court Motel/Holiday Units at Stansbury and are looking forward to new challenges and lifestyle changes.

Please accept my thanks for the efforts of the Association over the many years and more recently the latest EB agreement. Although I won't be reaping the rewards of the whole agreement I am certainly grateful for the increment that I will receive.

After nearly 34 years in "the job" it is impossible to thank everyone. I will simply say thank you and best wishes.

Dear Andy

It has nearly been 10 years since you asked me to complete my first report for having my hands in my pockets during early days at the Police Academy. Now with thanks, I ask you to accept my resignation from the Police Association of South Australia, effective 2 December, 1998, which will be my last day of service with the South Australia Police.

I am grateful to the association for its assistance in successfully settling a claim for an injury I sustained whilst on duty in late 1995.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my various postings which have included Payneham Patrols, Communications, Tea Tree Gully and Hindley Street Beats. The most enjoyable time I have spent in the job was whilst on secondment to Operation Expedite II, working out of Hindley Street.

Up until earlier this year I have never considered myself anything other than a career police officer. I steeled myself to fight the same battles as I saw those around me fighting, giving the job the benefit of the doubt believing that somehow things would be different for me. Perhaps they would have been but I have made a decision, based on the current balance of probabilities, to give something else a try. Life is not a rehearsal and I do not want to be caught down the track saying "what if?" I will be working with Kies Real Estate at Gawler using a system that is set to revolutionise the real estate industry here in South Australia.

I bear a debt of gratitude to those who I have worked with for looking after me and allowing me to leave in one piece with no regrets and plenty of good memories. Only a copper would know what it is like to rely on your partner to get you through, knowing that they are relying on you. I look forward to keeping in touch with all of these friends.

Yours sincerely
Darren McGlone

A special thank you for all the advice, instruction and training received from all members with whom I had dealings, especially on social matters.

To all Association members, good luck and best wishes for the future.

Dear Andy

I hereby tender my resignation from the Association due to my resignation from SAPOL effective 09.10.98.

After 12 years of service I leave to start my own business as a beauty therapist.

Farewell to all remaining Course 139 members and to everyone who I have had the pleasure of knowing. To the Elizabeth Admin, a big thank you for all your assistance and support.

My beauty salon is located at the Fairview Park shopping centre. Massage, facials, waxing (ouch) are available, so call in - my prices are very reasonable.
