Three members of the South Australian Police Gun Club competed in the Australasian Police Trap and Skeet Championships in Canberra in November 1997 before the Australia and New Zealand Games.
Apart from winning numerous individual prizes and championships, the three South Australians - for the first time since the inception of the championships - won the skeet and trap teams events.
The team will again try to emulate that success when the club hosts the 18th Australasian Police Trap and Skeet Championships at the International Gun Club, Port Wakefield Road, Virginia, from 13 to 15 November.
Major sponsors for the championships include:
- Scotts Transport. Meadows Transport.
- Bay City Targets.
- Target Australia.
As well as South Australia, competitors have registered from:
- Queensland.
- New South Wales.
- ACT.
- Victoria
- New Zealand.
All members of SAPOL and their families and friends are welcome to attend and show their support.
Anyone interested in clay target shooting can participate in regular shoots held each month by the club. Contact me at Northern Traffic Motorcycle Response, Holden Hill on 8207 6140 or 0412 470 252.
