AT THE CINEMA

IMAX ADELAIDE

The IMAX Theatre in Adelaide’s East End has some great films to put on the must-see list. Showing now, Antarctica - The World’s Last Great Wilderness takes viewers on a spectacular adventure to the world’s highest, driest, windiest, and coldest continent. Australian film director, John Wiley, produced Antarctica, and Adelaide cinematographer, Malcolm Ludgate, is the director of photography. South Australia’s David Flatman was the director.

If Antarctica isn’t to your taste, you’ll certainly be entertained by Into The Deep in 3D. In fact you’ll be immersed into an aquatic environment that has to be seen to be believed. Even adults will find themselves reaching out to touch the images that aren’t really there at all. Into The Deep is a wonderful experience recommended for the whole family.

New at IMAX is the concert event of a lifetime - Rolling Stones at the Max. Filmed over five nights during their 1989-90 Steel Wheels/Urban Jungle Tour, Rolling Stones at the Max is the first IMAX concert film and is destined to become the launch pad for future concert productions. Concerts don’t get any bigger at the IMAX. Rolling Stones at the Max gives fans the opportunity to get closer to the Stones than ever before - larger than life.

It’s a black comedy involving six different gangs with opposing agendas and the violent chaos that ensues. Opening this month the film stars British soccer player Vinnie Jones and Sting.

ON VIDEO

HAPPY CHRISTMAS FROM THE TELETUBBIES

When these strange looking creatures appeared on Australian television most people would have wondered what they were and why they were there. How could a group of troll-looking creatures with televisions in their tummies appeal to anyone? How wrong were we? Tinky Winky, Dipsy, Laa Laa and Po are now world famous, having secured a position as one of the fastest growing children’s entertainment acts in Australia.

Released by ABC Video the fourth video in the series is available now at a RRP of $24.95. To win a copy of Happy Christmas From The Teletubbies put your details on the back of a used envelope and address it to Mike Horsfall, Sturt Police Station (12) Tubbies.

ON CD

SEINFELD

The series may be over, but Seinfeld just won’t die. The re-run has already started and the stand-up comedian continues to perform. I’m Telling The Truth is his first comedy album and must be missed to be truly appreciated.

All material was written and performed by Jerry Seinfeld and recorded live. Says Seinfeld: “There’s something about a comedy album where you can sit quietly...and closely examine...what a comedian is doing.” After an examination I’m listening for the last time.

GARÁGE

Mental as Anything turned 21 in August this year. Having outlasted four prime ministers, the end of the vinyl LP, the rise of Microsoft and the Internet and the colonization of space, they are the band that can’t die. They have sold over 2 million records worldwide and had Top-10 hits in North America and Europe.

GARÁGE is classic Mental As Anything and will not disappoint lovers of their previous releases. Released by Festival Music, the 2-CD album is priced at $29.95.
