Meeting
The Retired Police Officers Association’s final meeting for 2004
took the form of a Christmas banquet and celebration in Fenwick Hall
on December 2. At tables expertly decorated by the Ladies Auxiliary,
70 RPOA members enjoyed the catering of Police Club restaurant managers,
Heather and Greg.
Members also received Christmas gifts as RPOA president, Les Morris,
offered greetings of the season.
Annual dinner
President Morris welcomed 127 members and guests to the annual RPOA
dinner at the Police Club restaurant on November 25. Club managers,
Heather and Greg, and their staff, catered for the dinner superbly.
Commissioner Mal Hyde and his wife Marcia were the guests of honour.
In his address, Commissioner Hyde spoke of the progress in police
recruitment, and the force in general. He wished members a happy Christmas
and a safe New Year.
Regional news
Several RPOA committee members and their partners attended a luncheon
at the Wheatsheaf Hotel, Price – just south of Port Clinton – on Dec
9. Mid North chairman for retirees, Kym Boxall, welcomed 57 attendees,
who took part in much reminiscing. To his credit, Mr Boxall continues
to keep the Mid North region socially alive for RPOA members.
Graduations
Pres Morris presented the RPOA trophy to Probationary Constable Larl
William Abdul Zada at the graduation parade for Course 56 on November
17. Probationary Constable Peter George received the honour at the
graduation ceremony for Course 57 on December 15.
New members
The RPOA welcomes new members Peter Redman, Gerry Feltus, Kath Healy
and Brian Partridge.
Vale
The RPOA extends its deepest sympathy to the families of James Dunsmore,
Barbara Gregory, Fred Devine, and Max Renney, who died in September
2004.
