Making your contribution to the construction of the long-awaited
national police memorial has become an easy process. The Police Credit
Union has set up an account (No. 5181464, National Police Memorial)
for that very purpose.
All you have to do is deposit your donation.
And this is not a fundraiser confined to the ranks of police officers.
The Police Federation of Australia - through its fundraising charity,
The National Police Memorial - seeks the support of not only the police
community, but also the general public.
The federation’s goal is to raise a total of $800,000 as its one-third
share of the $2.4 million needed to build the memorial on Lake Burley
Griffin in Canberra. The Federal and State and Territory governments
will contribute the other $1.6 million.
The monument, scheduled for completion in 2006, will serve as an
everlasting tribute to the hundreds of Australian police officers
killed in the line of duty.
The collective contribution of the police and public will bring
about more than the valued shrine itself. To future generations, it
will help bring understanding and appreciation of the great sacrifice
of the bravely fallen.
We urge you to donate generously, in memory of those who, across
the nation, have died as your colleagues and protectors.
