Police Credit Union

Get ready for the holiday season

As the year draws to a close, Police Credit Union wishes its members, and their families and friends, a happy and prosperous festive season.

Police Credit Union board, management and staff thank each of our 40,000 members for their support during the year.

Police Credit Union is proud to be a member-owned financial institution that genuinely represents and cares for the members it serves, particularly within the SA police force.

To ensure 2005 gets off to a good start, we recommend members take some simple precautions to ensure maximum enjoyment and peace of mind during the holiday season.

First of all, keep a close check on those Christmas purchases and try not to let a spending spree destroy your budget. Plan what you can afford to spend so there are no surprises when the bills roll in.

Remember, one of the best ways to fund expenditure is from existing savings. But, if you need to borrow money for that special item or holiday, contact us so we can organize finance for you well in advance.

A personal loan or overdraft is usually a cheaper form of finance than a store card. Call our response centre on 131 844 for terms and charges, and fees and conditions, that apply to PCU loans.

If you are going away on holidays, ensure your home is as burglar-proof as possible. That includes improving the safety of your home with deadlocks, screens or an alarm system.

If the worst happens, you may need to fall back on your insurance, so now is the time to check your insurance policies and be confident they are up-to-date and will meet the costs of replacing your important valuables.

For help in checking your insurance, members can call our insurance department on 131 844 for advice on appropriate levels of insurance protection.

Travel insurance is a must for members going overseas. The cost of losing your luggage, let alone the medical expenses if you fall ill or have an accident, can be quite horrendous.

Being a police officer, or working in and around SAPOL, means you can join Police Credit Union’s market leading “Advantage” scheme. For the full list of benefits, see our advertisement on the back page of this issue of the Police Journal.

Pop into a branch for more information on our “Advantage” accounts.

Once again, we wish you a happy festive season.
