Meetings
More than 100 Retired Police Officers Association members enjoyed
the fellowship of their monthly meetings in June and July. The association’s
Police Credit Union PR officer, Heather Hemingway, entertained attendees
with a repertoire of songs. Her talent was extremely well acknowledged.
The July meeting was the RPOA’s annual general meeting. Re-elected
unopposed to the executive group were:
- Les Morris (president).
- Lex Teague (vice-president).
- Ray Williams (secretary).
- Bev Schemmell (assistant secretary).
- Don O’Doherty (treasurer).
- Tom Zacher (welfare officer).
- Rae Holloway (committee member).
- Mary Renfrey (committee member).

- Pat Mitchell (committee member).
- Randall Kellas (committee member).
The RPOA auditors are Police Association of SA finance officer, Bronwyn
Lisman, and Rev Brenton Daulby. President Morris received reports
from Treasurer Don O’Doherty and the welfare officer. Reports from
Pres Morris and the treasurer will be made available through the Police
Journal.
Annual subs
The RPOA reminds members who pay subscriptions annually that their
$15.60 is now due and payable to Don O’Doherty at 3 Margaret Court,
Melrose Park, 5039.
Picnic and dinner
Bookings for these two events are now well in hand. Picnic is scheduled
for Sunday, October 24, at Fort Largs, and the dinner will – at a
cost of $20 per person – be held at the Police Club restaurant on
Thursday, November 25, at 6pm for 6:30pm. Bookings officer Rae Holloway
