Group life insurance

The Police Association represents the professional and industrial interests of its members. But it also provides an extensive range of services.

One significant service, introduced in the early 1990s, was the Group Life insurance plan. Membership of the association automatically includes coverage by the scheme.

The current benefit-on-death amount is $100,000; and the policy covers association members on and off duty 24 hours per day, seven days a week – irrespective of the cause of death.

The entire Group Life insurance premium is reflected in members’ association subscriptions and included in their annual taxation receipt. This premium is entirely tax deductible.

It is very important for members to keep their beneficiary form up to date so that, in the event of death, the benefit is paid to their nominees without delay. Forms were sent to all members with their tax receipts in early July 2004.

You should contact the association if you require a new form, or to check that your existing beneficiary form is up to date.

This scheme is a great example of what can be achieved when we act collectively.
