Meetings

A total of 100 members enjoyed the fellowship of their monthly meetings in April and May in Fenwick Hall. Chris Valladeras entertained at the April meeting, at which his talent was well received.

SA Telstra Businesswoman of the Year for 2003-04, Cathy Miller – the daughter of the late Chief Inspector Gary Cornish – was the May meeting’s guest speaker. Cathy provided an insight into how she combines her busy working life with her family commitments, caring for two children and her husband.

Old troopers’ luncheon

The RPOA thanks PASA executive secretary, Anne Hehner, for organizing the old troopers’ luncheon. Anne is the niece of the late Morris Stanford.

On March 27, 80 former troopers and partners attended the Police Club restaurant, where managers Heather and Greg provided a superb meal, and Deputy Commissioner John White was the guest speaker.

Lex Teague has volunteered to organize next year’s luncheon, to be held again at the Police Club restaurant. Lex is anxious for past members to make contact with any of those who have now clocked up more than 40 years since they began their service. These members will be most welcome.

Anzac remembrance

To the RPOA’s disappointment, few of its members attended the annual Anzac remembrance service at Fort Largs on April 18.

Picnic

Rae Holloway is now taking bookings for the RPOA annual picnic, which is scheduled for Sunday, October 24, at Fort Largs. Rae can be contacted on 8556 6787.

Dinner

Rae is also taking bookings for the RPOA annual dinner, which is scheduled for Thursday, November 25, at the Police Club restaurant. Times are 6pm for 6:30pm, and the cost is $20 per person. The chosen menu comes with an excellent variety.

Graduation

President Les Morris presented the RPOA trophy to Probationary Constable Paul Blenkiron at the graduation parade of Course 53 at Fort Largs on April 21.

New JP

RPOA president, Les Morris, was recently appointed a justice of the peace. He is available to any members who might require the service of a JP.

New members

The RPOA welcomes new members Shirley Steer, Peter Cribb, and Kath Doyle.

Committee nominations

Nomination forms are now available for the year 2004-05. Committee members will be selected at the RPOA meeting of Thursday July 1, 2004.

Vale

The RPOA extends its deepest sympathy to the families of Malcolm Tucker, Edna Cremer, Con Doyle, Jesse Jones, Ralph Hawke, Shirley Sedgley and Gordon Steer.
