Progress on security issue
I reported last year that the Police Association had lobbied the
State Government on the issue of potential legislation to protect
police officers – and their families – from “any form of intimidation
that might result from the performance of their duties”.
Cases had come to light of criminals accessing public records to
find officers’ home addresses and other personal details.
Attorney-General Michael Atkinson has responded to the association’s
concern by letter in the following terms.

The association will have further discussions with the Attorney-General
about the proposed legislation.
