Dear Andy
I tender my resignation from the Police Association due to my resignation
from SAPOL, effective August 29. I have taken a position with Transport
SA as their communications manager.
I leave SAPOL with no regrets and many happy memories. My 10 years
as a prosecutor were some of the best of my career, despite the difficulties
often faced both in and outside the courtroom. To those in Criminal
Justice Sections, keep up the good work. Police prosecutors are often
under valued, but it is a great job. My last week in the job, appropriately,
was spent back at Adelaide CJS.
The three years I spent as a police media officer were probably the
highlight of a 24-year career. Not just for the work and the people
but because it gave me the experience and confidence to venture out
and look for a specialist position in media and communications.
In my last 12 months with SAPOL I had opportunities to relieve in
Executive Support Branch and gained skills and knowledge which were
invaluable and ultimately helped me gain my current position. I would
have stayed with SAPOL but there just wasn’t an available position
that would satisfy my needs.
Thank you to all those I met over the years, especially those who
offered support and encouragement when most needed – you know who
you are. I will maintain strong contacts with SAPOL as I am involved
in road safety advertising campaigns and I look forward to working
with many of you in that capacity.
I am still available on the government e-mail system – just replace
the word “police” with “transport”.

Dear Andy
I hereby tender my resignation from the Police Association of South
Australia due to my retirement from SAPOL, effective October 20, 2003.
Overall, I have had a great time during my last 26 years in the
job. I have worked with many wonderful people over the years, with
many great friendships formed, and a hell of a lot of fun along the
way.
I have had the privilege to work in some of the most challenging
and rewarding areas of the department: STAR Force, Fraud Squad and
Drug Squad, to name a few.
I must say, though, the last four years have been less than happy,
and the management of SAPOL has a lot to answer for in the way it
treats those police officers who “don’t quite fit the mould” in the
health department any more.
Still, no one can say what is around the corner for them, so we’ll
see who has the last smile.
I sincerely thank the Police Association for its help – Andy Dunn,
Peter Alexander and Trevor Haskell in particular – especially over
the last few years. I wish everyone left in the job all the very best,
and thanks for the good times and memories.

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association of SA effective
November 14, 2003, due to my retirement from SAPOL.
I have enjoyed working with the people of SAPOL during my 43 years
of service. I thank the many people I have been associated with over
the many years in many parts of the State for their support and friendship.
I wish them all the very best for the future.
With thanks
Graham Brown
Dear Andy
On November 22, 2003, I commence a new life as a self-funded retiree
and therefore wish to resign from the Police Association of South
Australia from that date.
Over the years I have been fortunate to have been a delegate in various
locations, assisted in the establishing of the commissioned officers’
branch and sat at the negotiating table, where good results were achieved
in the enterprise bargaining agreement.
Over the last 40-plus years, I have served in numerous locations
and worked with some of the best police officers in Australia. I am
therefore proud to have been a member of SAPOL.
I thank the association and all of its members for all the achievements
and improvements that we now collectively enjoy. I have handed in
my callbox key and other historical equipment. Another dinosaur has
left the building.

Dear Andy
I wish to tender my resignation from the Police Association, my
last day of service being December 3, 2003.
I am retiring 38 years after walking through the gates of Fort Largs
and being confronted by Instructor Fred Knight and Supt Eric Meldrum.
The years have passed quickly and there have been good and bad memories.
I thank all who I have been associated with since 1965. I also thank
you and the association for your assistance and efforts over the years.
Best of luck for the future.
Regards
John Bevan

Dear Andy
I am retiring from SAPOL, my last day of service being December
10, 2003. I therefore tender my resignation from the Police Association
effective from the same date.
I have not had the need to require the services of the association
for any extraordinary event, yet I have been comfortable in the knowledge
that you have been there had the need arisen.
Thank you to all the hard-working members in the association who
have put time and effort into making our conditions as they are today.
You must at times feel like you are banging your heads against a brick
wall – I think at times you are.
It is my opinion that many of the SAPOL managers are more interested
in their own careers, and that their work is directed toward that
aim rather than the good of the public. They have also lost sight
of the fact that their staff are the greatest asset they will ever
have.
MMPP? Does that include the 1968 sheet of cardboard still used as
a kit list, 20 years out of date?
I have been extremely fortunate in the areas I have worked, and
fortunate for the many wonderful people with whom I have worked –
you are the people that make this job. Thank you all for the times
we have shared, from training until today. I wish you all good health
and happiness.
