Grange Sleeper Day

SA Police Bowling Club members competed in the annual Sleeper Day at Grange Bowling Club in early October. The day’s results appear below. The eventual win by the police team means it retains the Sleeper trophy until competitors next battle for it in the 2004-05 season.

Opening day

A mixed-fours competition was held on opening day at Elizabeth on October 19. The winner of the winners section was the Elizabeth team of I Devlin (lead), I Devlin (second), J Grims (third) and H Grims (skip).

The winner of the losers section was another Elizabeth team: B McRitchie (lead), B Lee (second), B Dalton (third) and D Priest (skip).

Club fours

A club fours event, scheduled to take place at Modbury in late October, had to be cancelled owing to rain.

Annual general meeting

The SAPBC emerged from its annual general meeting in June with a freshly elected committee for the 2003-04 season. The incoming committee members include:

  • Trevor Gregory (president).
  • John Minagall (vice-president).
  • Danny Fitzgerald (secretary).
  • Nick Zuvich (treasurer).
  • Graham Boyer (tournament director, chairman of selectors).
  • Graham Wakefield (publicity officer).
  • Ian Matters (selector).
  • John McKnight (selector).
  • Cosimo Cavaiuolo (selector).
  • Lyall Savage
  • Karen Grandfield

The AGM came ahead of a special general meeting at which members voted in favour of the club becoming an incorporated body.
