Dear Andy
It is with a great deal of regret that I ask you to accept my resignation
from the Police Association. It feels really horrible right now but
I have resigned from SAPOL. Is there a “cooling-off” period?
I was going to say so much in this letter about equity and diversity
and I was really going to give the old status quo a serve, but it
all seems a bit unremarkable now. What is remarkable though is the
way Police Association president, Peter Alexander, and assistant secretary,
Mark Carroll, backed me in my court fight. Those guys never let me
down and were always there when I needed support. With leaders like
them, the association will always be strong. I would hate to think
where I would have been had it not been for the active and genuine
support of the association.
My thanks must also go to the many members who approached me and
offered their heartfelt and personal support. To my many friends and
colleagues in SAPOL and also those who have retired and/or resigned
– I will miss you a great deal. Please, let’s keep in touch.
Yours sincerely
Harry Hills
Dear Andy
I wish to tender my resignation from the Police Association, due
to my early retirement from the police dept. I thank everybody in
the Rehab Section, especially Ian Hutchinson – they made it bearable
over the last 13 years, and also for the next 13 years.
I wish everybody I have worked with in the last 36 years the best
for the future.

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association of SA,
effective from September 24, 2003, which is my last day of service
with SAPOL due to retirement.
Over the 42 years I have been with SAPOL, I have read many letters
of resignation in the journal from members, and almost without exception
members have the utmost praise for the association and the work it
does. I can only reiterate this praise and say that, without the association
to look after members’ interests, our current wages, and all the other
conditions that members now enjoy, would not be of the high standard
they are today.
This is due entirely to the dedication and untiring efforts of President
Peter Alexander, you, and ALL present and past association staff.
I sincerely thank you all for your efforts which, I am sad to say,
are not always appreciated by ALL members.
It is with a degree of regret that I leave SAPOL, which has been
such a large part of my life for so long and which, I might add, I
have enjoyed immensely. To all the members of the Port Adelaide LSA,
where I spent most of my career, and in particular Parks Patrols,
I say good luck – make sure you continue to maintain the traditions
of the Port.
I have been lucky to have worked with some great coppers, as well
as some marvellous characters, and along the way made some lifetime
friends. But, as they say, all good things must come to an end sometime.
I will now be able to enjoy more golf, more bowls and, after the game,
the social aspects of those pursuits.
I extend my best wishes for the future to all association staff
and members of SAPOL and leave the job knowing the association will
continue to be the guardian of the interests of all members of SAPOL.
Yours sincerely

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association, my last
day of service being September 24, 2003. I have been offered a position
in the corporate world, which is too good to turn down. I wish to
thank all of the people I have worked with over the past four years,
especially the members of team 2, Tea Tree Gully, who have provided
me with countless laughs and memories. Thanks Gary, Westy, Benny,
Shaz, Ben and Amanda.
