Meeting
Fifty Retired Police Officers Association members attended their
monthly meeting in Fenwick Hall on Sept 4, and were welcomed by President
Les Morris. Clare Hall and Paul Nikoletto explained the Government’s
involvement in all aspects of aged care. Included in the explanation
were issues from how to obtain care in government hostels to the Aged
Care Complaints Resolution Scheme.
Picnic
This year Rae Holloway reports the unusual small number of members
who have signified their intention to attend the picnic. At last count,
80 members had their names down to attend. The RPOA usually caters
for a much larger number. For catering purposes, Rae requires names
as soon as possible.
Regional
After advising the RPOA committee, Kym Boxall held the first meeting
of retirees within his region at a Moonta hotel on Sept 11. Kym’s
commitment to RPOA members in his region is indeed heartening.
Dinner
Numbers for the dinner are as expected. Rae Holloway will inform
those who wish to attend if their bookings have been accepted.
The $20-per-head cost must be paid before the November 20 dinner
(6pm for 6:30 pm start).
Graduation
President Morris presented the RPOA trophy to Probationary Constable
David Blenkiron at Fort Largs on August 13.
Annual subs
The RPOA further reminds its members who pay their subs annually
that the $15.60 is now overdue and should be paid ASAP to treasurer
Don O’Doherty at 3 Margaret Court, Melrose Park, 5039.
Vale
The RPOA extends its deepest sympathy to the family of Una Blyth.
New members
The RPOA welcomes new members Peter Biggins, Nicola Martino, John
Minagall, Ronald Smith, John Dicker and Christine Lawrance.
