Meeting
Sixty-five Retired Police Officers Association members
attended their monthly meeting in Fenwick Hall on August 7. President Les
Morris welcomed the gathering and presented an inscribed plaque to long-serving
committee member, Rob Thomson.
Radio, television and stage identity, Bob Vaille, entertained
the members, who delighted in his good humour and anecdotes.
Dinner
More than 80 members are listed to attend the RPOA dinner
scheduled for November 20. As the club can accommodate only a certain number,
those first in with their bookings will receive preference.
The charge of $20 per person must be paid at least 14 days
before the dinner. This is essential for catering purposes.
All bookings should be made with, and fees paid to, Rae
Holloway (8556 6787). Payment can also be made at RPOA monthly meetings on the
first Thursday of each month.
Picnic
Rae is also taking bookings for the RPOA picnic scheduled for
October 19. This picnic is free to all members, and the number attending must
be known for catering purposes.
Vale
The RPOA extends its deepest sympathy to the families of John
Sharpe, Don Jamieson and Ross McCrae.
Annual subs
The RPOA again reminds its members to pay their annual subs
($15.60) to Don ODoherty, 3 Margaret Court, Melrose Park, 5039, as soon
as possible. This payment will eliminate the need for reminder notices, and
therefore assist RPOA finances by saving on the 50¢ postage.
New members
The RPOA welcomes new members Ron Beckham, Anthony Tame, Kym
Boxall and Frederick Papps.
