Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association due
to my resignation from SAPOL, my last day of service being July 2, 2003. I have
opted for a change of scenery. I wish the best to all I have worked with over
the past four-and-a-half years. I have met many good people along the way with
continued friendships in the future.
To all those who wanted me to write something with venom and
substance on their behalf, this is as good as it gets.
I have enjoyed the ride, but its time to get off.
Take care
Brett Lewis

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association due
to my resignation from SAPOL, my last day of service being July 4, 2003.
I have often thought about what I would write in this letter
when the day came, as I would reflect back on my 19 years of service.
On a whole it has been a very positive experience. I have
enjoyed the culture, mateship and friends who I have made, beginning with
course 2/84.
I have appreciated the opportunities and experiences to work
in a diverse range of areas, such as region B, Glenelg patrols, Security Advice
Unit, Traffic Safety, International Police Conference and, lastly, Sturt
Community Programs.
My family and I are moving to the Central Coast of NSW so my
husband can take up his new position in Sydney as the national services manager
for IAG Insurance.
We are looking forward to a better lifestyle and being closer
to family. If you are over that way, you may see us strolling along Avoca or
Terrigal Beach.
I say goodbye to those of you I have had the privilege to
work with over the years and wish you the best of luck in the future.
Cheers

Dear Andy
Could you please arrange to terminate my membership of PASA,
as my last day of service in SAPOL will be July 11, 2003?
Please extend my thanks to all those with whom I have worked
over the past 39 years. I have enjoyed their support and fellowship and now
leave knowing that this is what I have worked for.
Best wishes for the
future,
Peter Mildren
Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association due
to age retirement from SAPOL, effective July 16, 2003.
To keep the little brain matter I have left ticking over, we
have purchased the Pitt Stop Coffee Shop.
I especially thank all the members I have had the privilege
to work with at Whyalla, Norwood, Port Augusta, Mount Gambier, Adelaide and the
now defunct Breath Analysis Section. I also thank the staff at the Police
Superannuation office and at HRMB for their assistance over the past 12 months.
A final thank you to the Police Association, a union which is
only as strong as the members allow it to be. Being actively involved in this
organization many years ago was another privilege and enjoyment I had over the
years. After all, if it wasnt for the tireless effort the late, great
Jack Walsh gave during the 1980s, members like myself would not be able to have
the early retirement package we currently enjoy.
Along with my Course 32 mates, the memories, the majority of
which are good, and the everlasting friends I have made over the past 33 years
will remain forever.
I wish all members the very best for the future, and will miss
you all.
Best regards

Dear Andy
I tender my resignation from the Police Association of South
Australia due to my retirement on July 24, 2003.
Having joined in December 1963 and spent 30 years of my
career in country areas, I believe SAPOL has to get back to reality and have an
incentive for members to go to country areas.
Either reduce rents or bring in a country allowance for
members so there is an incentive for members to move to country areas.

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association due
to my retirement as of August 6, 2003.
After reading resignation and retirement letters in the
journal for many years, I always thought that I would use this opportunity to
let rip with my thoughts. Now that the time is here, I have been reflecting on
the past 36 years and find out that in fact I have had a ball.
Spending 33 years attached to Traffic, I have been subject to
changes and movement on a regular basis, frequently without any apparent
benefit to those involved, but usually interesting in nature.
Over that period, I have worked with numerous exceptional
people, and it would be impossible and unfair for me to start naming
individuals. I just say thanks to all with whom I have been involved.
As stated, it has been very interesting and overall enjoyable.
I have had a ball but now I have had enough.

Dear Andy
Due to my retirement from SAPOL, effective August 6, 2003,
please accept my resignation from the Police Association.
After 40 years, seven months and four days, it has been a
memorable journey. Throughout this period of my life, I have always felt secure
in the knowledge that PASA was constantly working for the best interests of its
members. In the last 10 years, during my postings in HR, I have had, at times,
a close working relationship with the association executive in seeking to
resolve some of the individual and organizational industrial issues which will
of necessity arise. I thank you and your predecessors for the spirit of
co-operation which was often present at those times when we sought to improve
the working environment of all SAPOL employees.
I leave SAPOL with sadness, as I cannot express sufficiently
my gratitude to all those people who have worked with me during my career,
which included some quite exciting and stressful projects and operations.
To those I have not been able to see before I left, please
accept my sincere thanks for your friendship and support. My last posting at
the academy has left me with the conviction that we have some outstanding
people moulding high-standard recruits into the police officers of tomorrow. I
agree with John Minagall, that we can retire knowing the job is in safe hands.
I wish you well in your negotiations for the next enterprise
agreement and in your continuing role in support of your members.
Yours
sincerely
Peter (Sam) Biggins
Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association of
SA due to my resignation from SAPOL. My last day of service is August 7,
2003.
I thank all those I have worked with in my career since
joining in March 1979 in Course 68. I have worked with some good coppers and
some great coppers. Not all my experiences in the job have been good, but they
have shaped me to a degree and prepared me for life. I think to a certain
extent I am indebted to the job for the people Ive met, situations
Ive been in and opportunities Ive been afforded. Ive learned
a great deal, especially about people. Ive always tried to maintain a
positive attitude throughout my career, as Ive always believed that
its not what happens to you, but what happens in you that matters.
I leave SAPOL with a kind of happy scared feeling. I move to
another similar vocation in helping people, that of senior minister of an
Assemblies of God Church, The Hills New Life Centre at Mt Barker in the
Adelaide Hills.
I will be leaving the job but taking with me some good
memories, good friendships and a sense of completion. As I leave SAPOL, I know
Im in good hands. I wish everyone in SAPOL all the best for the future.
Please take care and every time I hear or see a police car heading somewhere in
a hurry, Ill be offering a prayer for your safety and wellbeing.
God bless

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association of
SA due to retirement, my last day of service being August 27, 2003.
It was on the February 20, 1961, that a group of 16- and
17-year-olds started at the Thebarton barracks. Its an old cliché,
but where has the time gone?
I have had many good and bad experiences of one sort or
another over the years but, looking back, the good experiences have certainly
outweighed the bad. Despite the commonly expressed state of the job, it
hasnt been a bad firm to work for.
Its not possible to mention all of the great people who
I have worked with over the years but, to them, I wish good luck and all the
best for the future.
It was a good feeling knowing that the association was there
to help if needed.
Thank you for your efforts to provide better working
conditions for all members of SAPOL.
Good luck and best wishes to all SAPOL members.
Regards

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association due
to my retirement from SAPOL, my last day of service being the September 3,
2003.
It is with mixed emotions I advise you of my retirement after
43 years active service. However, it is time to move on and enjoy life
with my family, without the stresses of work.
Over the years I have worked with wonderful, dedicated people,
whose commitment and professionalism is unsurpassed, but, more often than not,
never really appreciated by management.
Lack of staffing is a major issue. I wont dwell on the
politics of all that, as Im leaving on a good note. Ive had a
fantastic career, working mostly in Crime Support Service, both in suburban
CIBs including OC Christies Beach CIB and professional areas,
such as Special Crime and DOCIB.
All areas represented a big challenge to me that was
everything I expected and more. I have enjoyed every bit of my career and would
suggest that senior-sergeant level is the best, where one can still be with the
team chasing crooks as well as participating in management. I wish everyone all
the best for the future in these trying and changing times.
To those who know me, remember: Dont lose your
sense of humour, Drink ya medicine, and, Its a
wonderful thing were doing.
Yours sincerely
