Meeting
Fifty-two Retired Police Officers Association members attended
their annual general meeting in Fenwick Hall in July. Re-elected to the
executive group were:
- Les Morris (president).
- Lex Teague (vice-president).
- Ray Williams (secretary).
- Bev Schemmell (assistant secretary).
- Don ODoherty (treasurer).
- Tom Zacher (welfare officer).
The five committee members elected were Rae Holloway, Mary
Renfrey, Ray Holloway, Pat Mitchell and Randall Kellas. Rob Thomson stood down
after 11 years in office and members applauded his efforts as a club
participant.
Annual subs
Members who pay their subs annually are reminded that the
$15.60 is now due and payable to Don ODoherty at 3 Margaret Court,
Melrose Park, 5039.
Picnic and dinner
Bookings for the RPOA picnic (Oct 19) and the annual dinner
(Nov 20) are now being taken. Only Rae Holloway will take bookings, on 8556
6787. No other committee members will be responsible for bookings.
Graduation
President Les Morris presented Course 49 graduate,
Probationary Constable Jade Burns, with the RPOA trophy at Fort Largs on June
18.
New members
The RPOA welcomes Ken Ninnis, Alex Mischin and Keith Stevens
(associate). President Morris encourages all retirees to join the association,
either at the time of their retirement or later. Members now enjoy such
privileges as those offered to full members of the Police Association of SA.
Vale
The RPOA extends its deepest sympathy to the families of
members who died during the past year. They were: Henk Browning, Ron Blight,
Bob Wescombe, Bob Morris, Alan Sly, Frank Patterson, Kevin Waterman, John
Giles, Geoff Browne, Stan Swaine, Morrice Stanford, Brian OGoerk, Gary
Cornish, Neta Thorogood, Mary Stewart, Gladys Peaks, Alice Nation, Ethel Gill,
Ethel Collins, Kit Dillon, Elizabeth Keough and, more recently, Bill
Jeffree.
