Enterprise bargaining (EB4)

The Police Association is about to finalize a log of claims on behalf of its members for a new enterprise agreement.

Now that EA2001 has nominally expired, the association will seek a date on which to begin negotiations for a new agreement with SAPOL and the government.

The claim will require ratification by the committee of management, as well as delegates in their capacity as representatives of all members.

And the claim will represent every association member, regardless of his or her rank and the role he or she performs.

Vitally important is that, as members continue to operate with inadequate staffing and increasing workloads, the claim must reflect appropriate compensation.

In the lead-up to the new claim, the association has received significant input from members. To express their views, members need only write to the association, or make direct contact with delegates, committee members or full-time staff.

In recent years, the association has achieved outcomes that have brought its members’ wages up from the bottom end of the Australia-wide police salary scale. The association is committed to the maintenance of that improved position.

For association success in this fourth EB, members must remain united. They must display the loyalty and solidarity that has enabled PASA to improve the lot of SA police officers for more than 90 years.
