Meeting
Forty-five Retired Police Officers Association members
attended their monthly meeting in Fenwick Hall on June 5. Accomplished Adelaide
Symphony Orchestra cellist, Sherry Handley accompanied on the piano by
her mother-in-law, Mary Handley enthralled the gathering with her music.
Between numbers she provided an insightful history of the
cello. Both musicians were presented with posies after their performance.
Regional news
The enthusiasm of retired members indicated the success of a
recent committee-arranged luncheon at Port Augusta. Some members travelled from
as far as Port Lincoln, Port Pirie, Gladstone and Port Germein. Their emergent
interest in forming their own social group leads the RPOA to hope as a
parent body that someone up there will assume an organizer role.
Rae and Raymond Holloway deputized for President Les Morris
and the RPOA executive at an Ardrossan luncheon on June 5 to recognize the
efforts of Dennis and Jeanette Ireland in the Kadina Region. An engraved trophy
was presented to Dennis who, owing to ill-health, has had to hand over to Kim
Boxall.
The RPOA wishes him a complete recovery, and the best to
Jeanette.
Welfare report
RPOA welfare officer, Tom Zacher, requests information on any
members who are sick. Without knowledge of such members, it is impossible for
Tom to carry out his welfare-officer role. Contact him on 8276 5880.
New members
The RPOA welcomes new members John Moran, David Alvino, Peter
Malpas and Roger Halliday.
