Inadequate
staffing
The issue of staffing levels is an ongoing problem for the
Police Association. Despite the fast-track recruiting that followed the
associations staffing campaign and the Premiers task force,
staffing problems at the patrol level, country locations, CIB and, in
particular, prosecution remain.
The current prosecution dispute is further evidence of SAPOL
failing to adequately staff its own structure. (The notice of dispute
appears below.)
Lack of adequate staffing is not conducive to good morale and
impacts on occupational health and safety.
The Police Association is committed to doing everything
possible to address this serious problem.
