Thanks Jock

Long-time Police Club stalwart, Jock Riach, recently celebrated his birthday at the club and, afterwards, sent an e-mail (printed below). Here again, a patron extols the services provided by the club and its terrific staff. Try it and support your club.

Vouchers

The gaming machine vouchers are on again for the months of November and December.

Melbourne Cup

Why not come to the Police Club for an inexpensive lunch and stay to watch the big race on the big screen. Bookings are essential.

Christmas pageant

Don’t forget the Credit Union Christmas Pageant, a great family morning, on Saturday November 9. Bring the kids into the club after the pageant and see Father Christmas.

Christmas drinks

Friday December 20 is the big club night for everyone to come in for a drink, and wish colleagues the best for the festive season. This is a very special and traditional night for members, families and friends, so don’t miss out. Bookings are essential if you plan to stay for dinner.

The Riach letter

Merge

Just a note to let you know I recently celebrated my birthday at the Police Club. I had some 80 to 90 guests (I didn’t know I had that many friends). Mine host Trevor, with chef, Tony, catered for the function. Most of the guests were from all walks of life, many quite influential. The evening went off without a hitch and all had a thoroughly enjoyable time. The following week I was inundated with compliments regarding both the meal and the venue.

It did cause me to reflect on the quality of the premises and the effort put in by Trevor and Tony. My partner and I have thanked them both personally, but I think it is imperative that comments are relayed to the board of management of the club.

The function was held in the downstairs dining area and it catered for everyone’s needs. I felt considerable pride in being associated with such a well managed institution.

I can remember the good old days with Evan Johns and the 6pm closing. Many of us have had happy hours and the casual meal at the club, what I particularly liked was that little bit extra with the white table cloths and a few decorations. How easy it was to convert from a casual to a semi-formal function. The difficulty the club may be experiencing is that most patrons only use and know the club for the casual occasion and do not appreciate how easily it is to present the formality to suit the occasion.

You have come a long way and you should be proud of the club’s achievements and ability to cater for such a variety of functions.

Please convey my sentiments to the board on a job well done in excellent facilities.
Jock Riach
