Meeting

Fifty-four Retired Police Officers Association members attended their monthly meeting in Fenwick Hall in September. RPOA president, Les Morris, welcomed the members, while Barry Hall – known from his days with 5DN – provided entertainment. Barry has become a regular at RPOA meetings and, as usual, his repertoire on the keyboard won great appreciation.

Picnic

The RPOA reminds its members that its annual picnic is now being held on Sunday October 27.

Those who intend to bring a non-member must notify Raelene by October 7, as a levy of $5 per person will apply. This is necessary for catering purposes. Raelene can be contacted on 8556 6787.

Dinner

Bookings for the RPOA dinner on November 21 are proceeding (call Raelene on 8556 6787). November 7 is the last day on which bookings will be accepted. The cost is $20 per person. Cheques for payment can be made to Treasurer Don O’Doherty at 3 Margaret Court, Melrose Park, 5039.

New members

The RPOA welcomes Michael Standen, Rodney Trussell and Peter Marsland as new members. Retired officers who wish to join the RPOA should contact Secretary Ray Williams at 18 Peppertree Grove, Marion, 5043.

The RPOA reminds its members to pay their subscriptions. Fees are now due and cheques for the amount of $15.60 can be sent to Don O’Doherty at 3 Margaret Court, Melrose Park, 5039.

Graduation

The graduation of Course 43 was held at Fort Largs on Wednesday August 7. The RPOA trophy was awarded to Probationary Constable David Furness. Course 44 graduated on Wednesday September 4, when Michael Tolson received the trophy. President Les Morris presented the trophies on each occasion.
