Meeting

Fifty-four Retired Police Officers Association members attended their monthly meeting in Fenwick Hall in August. RPOA president, Les Morris, opened the meeting and introduced members to the newly elected committee for 2002-03. Entertainer Wendy Gould provided her usual comedic prose, which was well received by all members.

Picnic

RPOA members should notify Raelene Holloway (08 8556 6787) if they intend going to the annual picnic, which has been moved from October 20 to October 27. They should advise her of the number of persons attending, as this information is essential for catering purposes.

Dinner

The annual dinner will go ahead on November 21 at a cost of $20 per head. Again, those intending to go should notify Raelene Holloway. This notification must be made before the RPOA’s November 7 meeting. Monies for this occasion must be paid to RPOA treasurer, Don O’Doherty, at either a monthly meeting or 3 Margaret Court, Melrose Park, 5039.

New members

The RPOA welcomes Barry Phillips, Brenton Triplow, Cleve Brisbane, Bernard Connell, Michael Joseph and Graham Watson as new members.

Vale

The RPOA extends its deep sympathy to the families of Robert (Bob) Wescombe, Hendrik Browning and Ron Blight.

Police Club

In the June issue of the Police Journal, the President’s Message (Police Club under threat) explained problems associated with the Police Club. The situation as outlined was extremely sad. The club has been there for us all for many years. It would be a wrench to be without it.

Do your best as retired members to help get the club back to the days when it was our meeting place. Call in for drinks or the delicious meals – and take your friends.
