Dear Andy
I wish to tender my resignation from the Police Association, my last day of service being my retirement date, July 13, 2002.
Please accept my personal thanks for the assistance given to me, and many of the members with whom I have served during my 37 years.
I also thank the Police Association, in particular Mark Carroll and the staff in their support of me during the past several years.
Thank you for the friendship and assistance given by members with whom I have served at the old region G, Port Adelaide police station, Rosewater patrol base, Task Force, Vice Squad, Port Adelaide CIB, Mount Gambier CIB and, last but not least, the Murray Bridge CIB.
It has been truly a remarkable lifetime working within the SA police department, with fond memories, both from members and the business sector. Unfortunately, during the last couple of years, Vietnam has come back to haunt me, but with strong support and comradeship, I am now on the road to recovery.
I intend to enjoy my retirement and acknowledge that I will be able to have more time in which to catch up with close friends both serving and non-serving within SAPOL.
Best wishes to all members of SAPOL and PASA staff.

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association effective from my last day of service on July 19, 2002.
I thank those with whom I have had the pleasure of working in my almost 14-year career with SAPOL.
I have spent the majority of my career in the country and particularly the South East. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time in SAPOL with its ups and downs but, as a whole, its been fun. I have decided to leave owing to the demands of juggling a police career with bringing up a young family and playing secretary to my husbands farming activities.
Those who know where to find me are welcome to visit the kettle is always on.
To the members of my course (24) if we ever have a reunion, dont forget me when Ive gone.
Most important, to the members in Prosecution, keep your heads up. It wasnt until I started in Prosecution in 1999 that I realized the intricacies of Prosecution and the very often tough job we have. I hope that the association is able to convince those with the say to secure additional positions where they are needed most. It constantly astounds me that the department puts more and more resources into operations or campaigns of one shape or another, but forgets the end result is more work for Prosecution, and simply doesnt worry about it from then on.
The pinch is fine. Its a number. But, surely, if prosecutors arent given enough time, or enough resources to push the matter through the court system effectively, then whats the point in the pinch in the first place? Did it achieve anything and was it in the interests of the public? But, more important, how often does a prosecutor get job satisfaction? I would say not often. If you dont have the time or resources to do your job well, how can you possibly feel youve done your best?
Anyway, Im off my soapbox now, and wish all members (particularly Jeff, Caroline and Trish) the very best for the future.
Regards and goodbye
Tania M Widdison (nee Leigh)

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association effective from Friday, July 26, 2002, being my last day of service.
I am moving on to bigger and better things but do not leave with any regrets from 16 years of service.
I have no doubt that the experience and skill attained during my time at both STAR Group and the academy has assisted me in pursuing my next career path. I leave with many fond memories and close friendships, which I know will last forever.
SAPOL has provided me with some interesting challenges, some of which I will be happy to leave behind.
It is time to move on and I thank all people I have worked with in the past and look forward to maintaining the friendships in the future.

Dear Andy
I hereby tender my resignation from the Police Association.
After being punched, kicked, bloodied, abused, used, bashed, charged and generally accepted as the punching bag of society for 35 years and seven months, I have decided to call it quits while there is still time to smell the roses and enjoy life without being entangled in the red tape of internal political turmoil.
Suffice to say that I have extreme difficulty in believing in the current processes and direction in which the department is headed and, as a result, my passion as a career copper has died.
I have had some fantastic times in the department and thank it for putting bread on my table for over 35 years, but I also thank it for pushing me to the extent that I was forced to climb out of the tunnel and look over the fence, where I found green grass and another life.
I retire on July 29 to take up the lease on the Renmark Swimming Centre, where I can enjoy the fun and optimism of our youth and talk to people for totally different reasons other than listening to depressing problems.
Thanks to the association for being there when I needed support a few years ago.
I sincerely thank all the members with whom I have served and particularly my staff at Renmark who have been very supportive and loyal through some troubled waters over the past 10 years.
To the members of the original Course 20 (March 1970), thanks for the memories. And to all the currently serving members, it wont get any easier so the best of luck for the future.

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association due to my retirement from SAPOL effective July 31, 2002.
I can best reflect on my 39 years service in SAPOL by stating that I had the privilege of working in a professional environment, and with some extremely loyal, dedicated and committed officers.
During my service, it was always comforting to know that staff of the Police Association were diligently working in the interests of members.
I wish all members (including those working in the public service areas of the department) every success in their careers.
Whilst this may be termed as an old traditional saying, it nevertheless will, in my opinion, always remain relevant: You only get out of a job what you put into it.
Best regards
Peter Campbell

Dear Andy
Please accept my resignation from the Police Association of South Australia. My last day of service is August 7, 2002.
I have accumulated a mountain of memories over 17 years and should have no trouble recounting numerous stories to my kids and, hopefully, theirs as well. Most will relate, with fondness, to my mentors and workmates.
Ill never regret my policing experiences, good and bad. The job is a singularly unique thing to have done, but I have also always harboured a desire to run a small business and be my own boss. I refuse to be left wondering at the end of a very short life, and so this is where Im heading.
Thanks to all for the best wishes.

Dear Andy
I hereby advise you of my resignation from the Police Association due to my separation through invalidity from the South Australia Police. My last day of service will be Friday, August 16, 2002.
I have made many friends. I will remember vividly the time spent in Traffic and ComCen. With the celebrations of Blue Lights 20th year, I can reflect back at the challenges and the friends that I made as its state co-ordinator in its most crucial time of survival.
Finally, to my friends and workmates at Hills Murray I have enjoyed working with you. It has been a rewarding, challenging and enjoyable time that I wont forget.
Yours sincerely
