Annual Contributor Information Statement 30 June 2002

Police officers who commenced employment with SAPOL before 4 May 1994 are members of the Police Superannuation Scheme (Pension or Lump Sum Scheme).

In October 2002, you will receive your annual contributor information statement as at 30 June 2002. Your annual contributor information statement will outline your member contribution details and your superannuation benefits under the Police Superannuation Scheme.

In previous years, members have received two annual contributor information statements for the Police Superannuation Scheme and the Police Occupational Superannuation Scheme (POSS). In July 2001, the superannuation benefits under POSS were merged into the Police Superannuation Scheme. Subsequently, you will receive the one statement from now on which will outline all of your superannuation benefits including the productivity lump sum benefits, previously payable under the POSS scheme.

Police officers who commenced employment with SAPOL after 4 May 1994 are members of the Southern State Superannuation Scheme (Triple S) and you will receive an annual contributor statement from Super SA in respect of that scheme.

Member Superannuation Contributions

In line with normal practice, your fortnightly member superannuation contribution to the Police Superannuation Scheme has been reviewed on the basis of your superannuation salary as at 31 March 2002. Your superannuation salary is the salary of your highest rank and increment actually attained in a permanent position (not to include higher duties salaries) within SAPOL during your service. Your new fortnightly superannuation contribution deduction, based on your superannuation salary as at 31 March 2002, was deducted from the first pay period in July 2002 (10 July 2002). If your salary changed (eg higher increment, promotion, pay rise) after 31 March 2002, your fortnightly member superannuation contribution will not be affected until the next review in March 2003.

Superannuation benefits payable to you upon separation from SAPOL are based on your superannuation salary payable at the date of separation (i.e. promotion, pay rise is taken into account).
