SAPOL fails to fulfil its obligations

The Police Association is currently in dispute with the South Australia Police over a number of industrial issues, as outlined in General Newsletter 01/02 in the July Police Journal.

The notification of the disputes follows a lack of commitment by the employer – over a long period – to deal with industrial issues.

This level of disputation is not conducive to confidence in either the Police Commissioner or his administration.

Discussions are now taking place with the Department of Premier and Cabinet (Public Works Sector Workplace Relations) as part of the dispute-resolution process.

The association has also raised its concerns with the Premier Mike Rann and Minister for Police Patrick Conlon.

These issues are vitally important to the association membership. Accordingly, the Police Association will vigorously pursue them to whatever extent might be necessary.
