Meeting
Fifty-one Retired Police Officers Association members attended their monthly meeting in Fenwick Hall in June and were welcomed by President Les Morris. Chris Valladeras entertained the members with enthralling renditions of memorable old tunes to his own accompaniment on the guitar. Chris has been invited to attend on a future date.
Wallaroo trip
Twenty-seven RPOA members enjoyed a day touring and sightseeing in the Iron Triangle on May 30. Organizers were somewhat disappointed that more members did not participate in the outing.
Annual picnic and dinner
Members should contact RPOA treasurer, Ken Phillips, if they wish to have their names listed for attendance at the picnic on October 20, and the annual dinner on November 21. Ken can be contacted in person at monthly RPOA meetings or by telephone (8261 0139).
Graduation
President Morris presented Probationary Constable Mark Howie with the RPOA trophy when he graduated from course 41 on May 29. Probationary Const Howie also received the leadership award and addressed the parade on behalf of his course. His grandfather, Tom Howie, would be well known to most RPOA members.
New members
The RPOA welcomes Stanley Douglas from Cave Hill via Amata as a new member.
Vale
The RPOA extends its sympathy to the families of Ian Long, Fay Morrisey, George Way, Laurie McEvoy and Mavis Zeunert.
Entertainment
Wendy Gould will entertain at the RPOA meeting scheduled for Thursday, August 1.
Coming events
Events remaining for this year include:
- RPOA picnic (October 20).
