Police Club

Yes, the club is under threat

Judging by the number of calls Police Club president, Nick Pippos, and I have received over the last few weeks, Peter Alexander’s comments in the June Police Journal have hit home.

The Police Club of SA is your club and it needs your support, otherwise YOU WILL LOSE IT.

It is a member-owned club and the last one left in Australia.

Why not make up a lunch or dinner party, come in for a delicious meal and stay on for a quiet drink and chat in a no-rush environment. Perhaps just drop by for a drink and a chat and do your bit to help the club survive.

Emergency services night

Those who didn’t turn up to the club for the Emergency Services Night on Wednesday June 12 certainly missed out on a good time.

It was a time of good music, good company and a great atmosphere – just like the “old days”.

Thank you to those who arranged the night. A huge amount of effort was contributed and a considerable amount of money was raised to benefit a great cause – Bluey Day.

Another good night had by all

Rumour has it that the Retired Women Police had an enjoyable night at the club recently. The Police Club thanks them for choosing it as their venue.

Police Club members awarded life membership

Three members of the Police Club were recently awarded life membership by club president, Nick Pippos.

Life membership to the Police Club of South Australia Incorporated is defined in its constitution as “special service to the club”.

Tom Zacher, Barry Lugg, and John “Winky” Winkworth had provided outstanding and exceptional service to the club over a long period.

Not only have they served in various capacities on the club’s committee over the years, but they have also unselfishly provided – in their own time – support to management and staff by doing those little things around the club that matter and are often taken for granted.

The three remain staunch supporters and ambassadors of the club and continue to provide guidance and direction.

Their life-member status brings the total number of Police Club life members to 13.

The management, staff and members of the Police Club of South Australia congratulate and thank Tom, Barry and John for their service.
