Looking for Aussie cop

Dear Sir

I am a 22-year-old female police officer employed by the Metropolitan Police in England. I would like to write to an Aussie police officer as a penfriend to compare stories and just generally write to them.

I would ideally like to write to an officer in his or her 20s, female preferably, but I don’t mind writing to guys. I’d also like to swap police badges etc…

My interests are rock music, going to the gym, yoga and, of course, going clubbing and drinking too much. I have been a police officer for two years and love it, except when I get into fights (they are only fun afterwards). I also like writing and receiving letters when I get the time (shift work). I love watching The Simpsons and Friends. I don’t enjoy living in London because it’s very dirty and busy – I am from a rural part of England called Shropshire, which is lovely, scenic and has fresh air!

I hope you can help me. If you can’t, or have any other ideas, could you please e-mail me and let me know what to do.

A fantastic club

Dear Andy

On behalf of the Police Federation of Australia industrial planning committee, I congratulate Police Club president, Nick Pippos, and his staff, for a wonderful night of hospitality and fine food at the club on October 18.

The next morning we all remarked on the great quality of the food and the friendly staff. We all agreed that a letter of appreciation was in order.

It was really encouraging to see families enjoying a meal together in the Police Club. I wish there were more of it elsewhere.

PASA has a fantastic club. I hope its members appreciate the efforts that go into making it what it is.

We had a wonderful night, great food (I can definitely recommend the chicken mango), good wine and most enjoyable company. I extend my appreciation to the staff.

Lyn White inspirational

Dear Andy

I saw Lyn White talk at Animal Liberation recently and just found the Police Journal website. I just want to say, since I didn’t get a chance last time, that I think she is truly remarkable and amazing. The lives these bears lead in the cage are indescribable and outrageous. What she and her team have been doing is so meaningful (Saving True Victims, Police Journal, January 2001).

I have been inspired by her actions and other discussions over the last month to make a short film based on an animal liberation idea. I would like to base it on a bear since I feel they look very out of place in confinement, as do other animals, however, there is something about bears that gets to me. They are so special.

Anyway, sorry to rave, but thank you to Lyn. She is an inspiration.
