Monthly meeting
Fifty-six Retired Police Officers Association members attended their monthly meeting on September 6. Musical duo David Fewster and Noel Lipson entertained the members with both old and current songs from well-known musicals. The audience vigorously applauded the duos performance.
Future entertainers will include the Police Credit Unions Heather Hemingway (October) and Arthur & Me (November).
Graduation parade
Several members and their wives recently attended graduation parades at Fort Largs, where RPOA president, Les Morris, presented a trophy from the organization. The marble base holds two penholders with pens, and a plaque inscribed with the recipients name. The trophy is awarded for excellence in operational safety.
Dependants fund
President Morris has dispelled a rumour about the payment by the fund to dependants from our Dependants Fund. Irrespective of the cost of members funerals, the Fund will pay $8,000 to widows or dependents.
Burra trip
Forty-one happy RPOA members and friends enjoyed an interesting trip to Burra on August 9. The host driver was Corrie De-Witt (ex-member and owner of the bus service).
Vale
The RPOA extends its deepest sympathy to the families of Bob Clark, Joe Linnane, Norm Wallace, Gladys Sparrow and Heather Moss.
New members
The RPOA welcomes new members Trevor Couch, John Fellows, René Borst, Phillip Brophy, and Edwin Forward.
