Fly! II

Format: PC

Fly! II, the latest instalment in this award-winning series of flight simulation games, continues to create the most realistic flight dynamics by delivering stunningly detailed aircraft.

This new game will appeal to both novice and expert players.

It delivers photo-realistic 3-D modelling, advanced flight dynamics and systems, and fully operational controls. The ultra-detailed cockpits are faithfully based on manufacturers’ specifications.

Games reviewer for The Australian, Steve Polak, says: “If you have a Pentium III or better, you will be astounded by the visuals. Fly! II has the most realistic cockpit experience ever in this competitive genre.”

The game features exclusive top-of-the-line aircraft models, including the Bell 407 helicopter and the Pilatus PC-12 Turboprop, as well as float planes.

For terrains, there are mountains, oceans, aircraft carriers, and more than 100 global cities depicted in intricate detail.

You can put your survival skills to the test by activating one of the real world systems failures, and experience how a real pilot would deal with a wide variety of emergencies such as:

In addition, Fly! II’s new adventure system includes real-world flight scenarios, pilot missions, and a fully open scenario scripting system to create your own set of adventures.

Beginners can learn to fly by VFR/IFR (Visual Flight Rules and Instrument Flight Rules), while experienced pilots will realize the fidelity and accuracy of the navigation systems modelled by Fly! II.

In addition, sun and moon phases, major star constellations, and dawn/dusk effects assist you in establishing your latitude and longitude co-ordinates and altogether create the most realistic visual representation of flight environments.

You can become a virtual pilot in single-player mode or join one of many online flight parties.

Monopoly Tycoon

To date, digital versions of the popular Monopoly game have been tame, rather uninspired rehashes of the basic board game. All this is set to change with the release in October of Monopoly Tycoon, an exciting, revamped, version of the game, conceived by English developer Deep Red. The new version incorporates strategy games and the most addictive elements of popular simulation games.

Monopoly Tycoon is easy to get to grips with, but has enormous depth and exciting challenges once you master the basics. You choose which businesses are built and where. You can match wits with cunning AI opponents, or tear into family and friends in ruthless multiplayer mode. Then you battle for control of the city as you zoom in on city blocks using the stunning 3D engine in day or night cycles.

With Monopoly Tycoon, you can:

As with the original board game, there are the familiar property blocks of Park Lane and Mayfair, and the Chance and Community Chest cards.

You rapidly develop a business sense as you learn to out-manoeuvre up to five other would-be tycoons, determined on bankrupting you. And you don’t stop until you own it all!

Wacky Races

Format: PlayStation 2

Almost everyone under 50 remembers Dick Dastardly and Muttley on the Saturday morning cartoon show.

Now you can take a hoon down Memory Lane with your favourite characters from Wacky Races in this newly released game of motoring mayhem.

There are six crazy cars to choose from with all your favourite characters - Penelope Pitstop, Peter Perfect, the Gruesome Twosome, the Slag Brothers, Sergeant Blast, not to mention old friends Dick Dastardly and Muttley with their Mean Machine.

There are 40 themed tracks, five wacky playing environments, and 20 ingenious gadgets, traps and weapons with which to knock your opponents out of the race. As you pick up awards, you get wackier gadgets or weapons.

To add to the thrills, the circuit is full of surprise bumps, jumps and traps.

Wacky Races follows the format of the TV cartoon where players are actually encouraged to win the race using any means necessary, fair means or foul - preferably foul.
