Formula One 2001 - PlayStation®2 |
|
The newly released Formula One 2001 should appeal to a wide audience. It delivers one of the most accurate simulations of the most advanced motorsport in the world on console to date, enabling both newcomers and practiced gamers to experience the depth and realism of Grand Prix racing.
Building on the phenomenal success of the Formula One series which has sold over 5.5 million units to date world-wide, Formula One 2001 is the official product of the 2001 FIA Formula One World Championship. It draws together all 17 Grand Prix circuits and all the teams and drivers of the 2001 season.
Included in Formula One 2001 for the first time are a vast array of breakable car parts and an extensive set of potential car failures, all of which affect performance and handling. Combined with the introduction of a real-time weather-system - which impacts upon track conditions to alter the course of the event - this makes for an even more pressured and realistic racing experience.
The game features all drivers, teams and circuits of the Formula One season. It offers both a true simulation mode and accessible pick up and play modes.
Racing at a constant 60 fps, Formula One 2001 incorporates Quick Race and Grand Prix modes plus tailored driving aids - ABS brakes, anti-wheelspin and steer/brake.
The incredibly life-like driver Al brings the grid to life with the introduction of rivalry, aggression, experience and determination.
Key features include:
- Real car dynamics model means that true simulation is available on PS2 for the first time. Use of driving aids allows pick up and play style for casual player.
- Groundbreaking opponent car AI, based on 30+ parameters, is the best yet seen in a racing game. It blocks, overtakes, puts you under pressure and wants to win as badly as you. Cars and drivers behave as they do in real life. AI is also varied depending upon difficulty level chosen. In pick up and play style they let you concentrate more on your driving, but as you progress through the difficulty levels so does the AI!
- Stunning visuals with ultra accurate tracks and car models.
- Dynamic weather system that can change during a game and impacts upon track conditions. Rain will affect visibility, handling and maximum speeds - you really do have to take note of the forecast!
- Car damage: lose a wing and your cars performance is affected. Have a major smash and watch the flying wheels, wings and dust clouds on the replay.
- Full or partial pit crew, depending upon your pit-stop needs. Individual engine sounds for each team.
- Individually modelled cars and cockpits.
- Constant 60 fps of intense racing at over 200 mph.
- Noticeable car performance variation between teams affects player lap times.
Additional Features:
- Multiple car parameters to tweak to get the best possible car set up for each track.
- Tyre degradation and tyre temperature affect handling.
- Detailed rules and flags.
- Safety car.
- Driving aids that can be switched on/off during game-play.
- Progressive difficulty levels (pick up and play through to full simulation).
- Anytime Save means you can save your game at any point during a race and return to it at a later time.
- Pit - driver commentary.
- Wing mirrors.
- Multiple camera positions.
- Race strategy planner.
