Monthly meeting
Sixty-two Retired Police Offices Association members attended their monthly meeting in the PASA building on April 5.
Arthur and Me provided entertainment, which all those present greatly enjoyed. Eugene and Georgina will be welcomed back for the May meeting.
Tours
RPOA members should remember that the Monarto but trip is scheduled for May 24 and costs $30 per head (to be paid at the May 3 meeting). Seats are still available.
The Burra trip is scheduled for August 9, costs $30 per head and leaves the Police Club at 8:30am. PP and lunch is included.
Police Journal
As readers can see, the RPOA is back and looking forward to informing members of coming events. The RPOA is grateful for the help and co-operation of Brett Williams and the staff from the Police Journal. Without their generosity, the RPOA would not be able to keep the readership informed of its activities. Thanks Brett.
Picnic
The Picnic is scheduled for October 21 at Fort Largs. Those who wish to attend, and travel by bus which will be supplied should inform the secretary.
Credit Union
The RPOA is grateful to the PCU for keeping it up to date on finance issues. The credit unions updates are ones to which members certainly look forward.
Country members
The RPOA committee members enjoy the company of those they visit in country areas. The RPOA encourages those visiting Adelaide from the country to join monthly meetings (on the first Thursday of every month except January). They can share afternoon tea, reacquaint themselves with old work-mates and join in the raffle. They can also partake of a good meal at the Police Club before the meeting.
From the president
President Les Morris and the committee congratulate Dennis Ireland at Kadina for his great effort in getting retired police officers living in the area to participate in get-togethers during the past four years. This area is apparently the only one that has been able to get these functions up and running, which was the sole purpose of committee visits to country areas. The RPOA looks forward to doing the round again and hopes that all other areas will organize themselves to get together with other retired police officers for similar gatherings.
The president wants to hear from someone in each area so the RPOA can be kept up to date on progress. Other regions should follow the example of Dennis Ireland.
