Dear Andy

Please accept my resignation from the Police Association. My last day of service will be March 21, as I leave to pursue a career as a solicitor. I thank those members who offered friendship and support throughout my career in the police department. In particular, Id like to wish all the best to the members of Juvenile Prosecution and state my appreciation for the efforts of PASA in obtaining better working conditions for all.

Yours faithfully
Nicole Hutchinson
Senior Constable 850/9

Dear Andy

I wish to tender my resignation from the Police Association effective march 21, 2001, due to my resignation from SAPOL.

I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been a member of the unique organization that is SAPOL for the past 15 years, and am grateful to have met and worked with some really wonderful people. I want to particularly thank the great bunch of people that made up course 12. My year at the academy is right up there with the best. Also, to those at Whyalla, thanks for the memories and fun times. I would also like to thank all of the friends I have made through SAPOL basketball for the many great trips away. Finally and most recently, a big thank you to the members of the now extinct Traffic Adjudication. My time there was mostly full of laughs and practical jokes, which made coming to work a pleasure (even if not on time). I will miss you.

I leave the job to continue my studies in small business management full-time and to spend more quality time with my son and look forward to a life full of opportunities outside of SAPOL. Best of luck to you all in what has become an increasingly difficult job during very trying times.

Sincerely
Helen Hansen

Dear Peter

I did not anticipate the need to write this letter for at least another 15 years, however, due to circumstances beyond my control it was necessary for me to make a life decision, which has resulted in my resignation from the department effective March 23, 2001. I therefore must tender my membership resignation from the Police Association of South Australia effective the same date.

I thank you and your organization for the assistance you have given me over the years both personally and as a collective member of the industrial group you represent. I would ask you to continue your service to members with the same level of excellence you have displayed during recent years, the resolution of industrial issues being critical to both the membership of your organization and the community they serve.

I also thank those members I have had the pleasure of working with during the last 15 years. I have met and worked with some truly outstanding people, each of whom has in some way assisted in my development both as a police officer and a person. To thank each person individually would require many pages and I would be certain to miss at least one person who would not be deserving of the omission. I therefore thank those people collectively as I am certain those people who will appreciate the sentiment will be well aware of whom they are.

To those people who wish to contact me, I have opened business premises at 22 Dew St, Thebarton (8152 0333).

Yours faithfully
Michael Lohse

Dear Peter and Andrew

I hereby tender my resignation from the Police Association effective March 26, 2001, due to my resignation from SAPOL. I am working with the private sector exporting alcoholic beverages and South Australian seafood to America, Asia and Europe.

I am leaving after 28 years having joined on January 4, 1973. I leave with no regrets because that is how I live my life. I regret nothing, albeit that there may be a few things I would do differently if having my time over again. I have enjoyed my time in SAPOL, a profession which I believe, sincerely, is the most honourable in the world.

There have been many highs and many lows, and I would change neither. To the friends I have made I say good luck. To the not so friendly I say good luck. To all at SAPOL, I say Carpe Diem.

Dear Andy

Please accept my resignation from the Police Association as of March 28, 2001. This is my last day of service with SAPOL. I have taken up a position with United Nations Security in Kosovo. My special thanks go to Mark Carroll and Ian Hills for their assistance and good humour. I was unable to catch up with as many people as I would have liked to prior to my departure, however, time with my family was of a higher priority. My e-mail address is opdem@hotmail.com if anyone wishes to drop me a line. A special thanks to members of Adelaide Division and team 4 members both past and present.

Good hunting, good luck and goodbye for now

Dave Cowey

Dear Peter

Please accept my resignation from the Police Association pending my retirement from the police service on April 18, 2001.

I thank you and members of the association staff for your continued efforts in improving working conditions and the excellent services provided to members over many years.

After 40 years service, I must say I have thoroughly enjoyed my role as a police officer in what I see as a true vocation in community service. It has been a great adventure both in the country, suburban patrols and the last 10 years spent in the Adelaide CBD.

It is with pride that I say goodbye and hope in some small way I have contributed to the excellent reputation of SAPOL. I sincerely thank the many friends I have made over the years for their assistance, advice, comradeship, dedication and commitment. Your efforts have been much appreciated. It has been an absolute pleasure to work with you. I will miss you.

I will be working with Greg ONeill (ex-SAPOL) in the funeral business and would be pleased to assist you in any way we can during this sensitive time.

Health, wealth and happiness to all members and their families. All the very best for the future.

Yours sincerely
John Wallace APM
Senior Sergeant

Dear Andy

Please accept my resignation from the Police Association due to my last day of service on April 19, 2001.

I decided a while back that my future was not as a copper and I have pursued a university degree that I complete this year. This to me was a better option than sitting around for another 11 years waiting for the magic 50 and hoping for something better to just come along. Something better has come along but it is due to taking a risk and putting in some effort.

Only a fool continues to do the same thing and expects a different result.

Best wishes to everyone for the future
