Pistol championships a success |
|
More than 100 competitors took part in the Australian Police and Services Pistol Championships at the Adelaide Pistol Club last December. The SA Police Pistol Club hosted the event, in which participants represented the police, Armed Services, Customs and Correctional Services.
The SAPPC division 1 team (Rick Hoile, Mark Worsley, George Gasiorowski, Ian Schlein and Kym Webb) finished third and won bronze medals.
The division 1a team (Paul Miller, Mick Papps, Brian Playford and Nick Maiden) won silver.
Various division winners received trophies and prizes during a presentation dinner at the Semaphore Palais.
The SAPPC committee of management attributed the events success to those who helped particularly police rangers.
Club member, Mick Standing, said the SAPPC welcomes new members. If you wish to supplement your police firearms training, or become involved in competitive shooting, the club can cater for you, he explained.
There is organized shooting on Saturday and Sunday mornings, and the club provides the opportunity to shoot in many disciplines. The sport of pistol shooting allows both men and women to compete on an equal footing.

Club members can compete in the Australian Police and Services Championships and have participated in the World Police and Fire Games. SAPPC members won 16 medals at the Games in Calgary, Canada.
For more information contact SAPPC secretary, Kym Webb, at Mount Barker, or President Ian Schlein at Adelaide CIB.
