Technology Training Seminars
During last year the Credit Union held four technology-training seminars that were designed to build members confidence in using electronic access to their accounts. This includes accessing ATMs, EFTPOS and giroPost and using BPAY, Ivy and PCUnet banking.
BPAY, Ivy and PCUnet banking provide members with 24-hour access to their memberships, and this can be the most efficient and convenient way to operate an account, particularly if you are a shiftworker. These services are also free of transaction charges and are, therefore, very cost-efficient as well.
We plan to hold another seminar between 10am and midday on Wednesday, February 14. These are conducted in two parts with ATM, EFTPOS, giroPost, BPAY and Ivy covered in the first hour and, after a short morning break, PCUnet and accessing the Credit Unions website are covered in the second hour.
The seminars are free of charge and members are welcome to attend the full two hours or join us for the section that most suits their needs. We also welcome family members, regardless of whether they currently have a membership with PCU. Perhaps you have a parent who finds modern technology a little overwhelming and would benefit from the morning. Many of our past participants have been older members and the feedback from them has been very positive.
Anyone who would like to attend on February 14 can phone our response centre on 131 844 and make a booking.
Using the Visa Credit Option
Christmas is traditionally a time when shopping becomes a major event. Some careful planning can help avoid extra transaction fees, which no one needs at this time of year.
If you have a Visa card, choose the credit option when purchasing goods when no extra cash is needed. These transactions are virtually cost-neutral to the Credit Union and are, therefore, free of transaction fees to our members. If you need to withdraw cash, try to make that part of an EFTPOS transaction when you are making a purchase. Supermarkets, for instance, allow quite significant cash withdrawals, and one transaction can cover both food shopping and the household cash.
And, thinking of Christmas, dont you wish you had a Christmas Club at this time of year. If you dont have one already, come and see us and arrange one for next year. Putting some dollars away out of your pay during the year can help avoid a big strain on the budget come December.
All of us at the Police Credit Union wish our police members a very happy New Year.
