Heavy Metal FAKK2
On Eden they have discovered a mysterious and sought-after gift - the secret of eternal youth. No one on the planet has aged in the past 30 years. To protect this treasure, the planet is masked with a powerful energy shield. As an additional safeguard, the people of Eden have also launched a FAKK2 (Federation Assigned Ketogenic Killzone) into their orbit. It protects them by emitting a beacon warning incoming ships that the planet is uninhabitable and rendered a death trap.
But their peace has come to an end with the arrival of a Planet Ship - able to consume entire worlds at once - with the ancient leader Gith behind the wheel. As the heroine, Julie, you must conquer all the evil that Gith will unleash, and save your planet from destruction.
The gameplay of Heavy Metal is extremely diverse in its methods of movement. Players are provided the ability to swing and climb up and down ropes, hug around a cliff and climb across every form of monkey bars and any graspable surface-like latticework or vines. There are many weapons to wipe out your enemy creatures, and players can even designate which hand to use.
Another great feature is the interaction of other characters in the games. During gameplay, another character will approach and start up a conversation about whatever is on his or her mind - from eating berries to manure-filled wheelbarrows.
Graphically, FAKK2 is one of the best-rendered and detailed games we have seen. It uses the same graphics engine as , so you can be assured of amazing quality using the latest technology. The world or environment in which the game is based is beautifully designed and co-ordinated, and provides a wonderful and absorbing atmosphere.
To add to the ambience, FAKK2 also has support for EAX (Environmental Audio Extensions) or other Direct Sound 3D-Enhanced soundcards. Every sound you would expect to occur in real life will be heard through the PC speakers
Heavy Metal FAKK2 is a great game and will occupy players for hours, even months on end. It has to be seen to be appreciated. FAKK2 is easily the pick of this months games.

On Dreamcast
![]()
The PC version of the 3D strategy shooter Hidden and Dangerous was reviewed last October and given the thumbs up. The game is now available for the Dreamcast Console and there is no reason to believe it will be any less successful.
Hidden and Dangerous is another shoot-em-up with one major advantage - strategy. In 1941, World War II was raging. The allies were faced with the evil of the Axis. Entire battalions were demolished attempting to capture strategic locations. Along comes David Stirling, a 24-year-old Scots Guard 2nd Lt. While injured in a practice parachuting exercise, he planned the formation of small raiding parties which would infiltrate and attack logistics bases and airfields. He managed to present his plan to a few of those in the upper echelon. It saw the advantage and the SAS were formed.
The game is not restrictive in any way, and participants may use weapons of dead soldiers - both allied and German - or the weapons mounted on vehicles or guard towers. Vehicles - anything from trucks to tanks - can be driven. For those seeking an involvement in the recreation of WWII with accurate features, look no further than Hidden and Dangerous.
For the opportunity to win Hidden & Dangerous put your details on the back of an envelope and send it to H & D Comp, SA Police Journal (168).
