Monthly Meeting
Fifty Retired Police Officers Association members attended their monthly meeting in the PASA bldg on September 7. Wet and windy conditions prevented some members from attending. The RPOA thanks those who braved the elements.
Credit Union
Police Credit Union spokesperson, Heather Hemingway, kept members abreast of PCU news: the November 18 pageant and the success of the Gold Pass cards.
Graduation
Eight RPOA members - including President Les Morris - attended the graduation of course 23. President Morris presented the RPOA Operational Safety Award trophy.
Annual Dinner
The RPOA annual dinner is scheduled for Thursday, November 23 - 6pm for 6:30pm. Payments should be made no later than the October 5 meeting.
Members attending the dinner should, as early as possible, advise Raelene Holloway of their seating preferences.
The menu will consist of:
- Soup (minestrone or pumpkin).
- Main course (turkey, pork or chicken with vegetables).
- Dessert (apple strudel and cream or Christmas pudding).
- Coffee, tea, cheese and greens.
Annual Picnic
The RPOA annual picnic will be held at Fort Largs on Sunday, October 15. Those attending can enjoy a great day free of charge, with everything supplied. Attendees need only bring their own chairs - and a table if they wish. To attend, contact RPOA secretary, Shirley Phillips, no later than the October 5 meeting. Those who need transport arranged should contact Nan Morris on 8272 4474.
Sick List
The RPOA wishes all members on the sick list a speedy recovery.
Entertainment
The RPOAs entertainers for its October meeting will be Georgina and Eugene. A speaker from Townsend House will address the November meeting.
Next Meeting
The RPOA hopes to see many current members at the next meeting to welcome new members John Greer, Roderick Hunter, Allan Headon, Frederick Smith, TR Szewczyk, John Hornibrook, Roy Parkyn, Ken Symons and Jeff Oats. Members with suggestions on worthwhile future trips should contact Secretary Shirley Phillips.
