Never Too Late To Get
           The Savings Habit

atch the cents, and the dollars will take care of themselves” is an old adage, but remains just as relevant today.

Too many people have a casual attitude to saving, and fall into the spend-now-worry-later trap. Having a live-for-today mentality sounds great, but if you have no savings to fall back on, you could end up in financial trouble should your circumstances change.

Part of the problem is that saving can seem too hard and unexciting. But the opposite is true. By saving, people are buying peace of mind and creating opportunities to purchase what they need. Savings give you the opportunity to provide a secure future for yourself.

To save effectively, you should make sure you have enough money to meet your present financial commitments. Some people set aside money for contingency (bills) and then some into a savings account, saving on a regular basis. You should consider what your major lifestyle and savings goals are, such as a car, overseas travel, supporting children, buying a home and retirement. Once savings priorities are established, you can work out how to save realistically for them. Even the smallest savings can add up to a large amount over time.

Often the excuse for not saving is that it’s only a small amount so it’s not worth it. But, by putting away only $50 per week, your savings will quickly build to a substantial sum. That opens up a range of investment options to increase your savings even further. Before you know it, you will have reached your financial goals.
