Monthly Meeting

Fifty-seven Retired Police Officers Association members attended their monthly meeting on April 6 - in much cooler conditions than those on the day of their March meeting.

Apologies were received for nine members’ non-attendance.

Police Credit Union member services officer, Kathy Dale, addressed the meeting on the new Gold Pass and its benefit to members who wish to take up the PCU offer.

The PCU always supplies members of its staff to address RPOA monthly meetings. The RPOA congratulates the credit union for maintaining this attendance, which keeps members abreast of financial issues.

Entertainment

Kay Brown of Wyatt Holidays Representing Aged Care and Housing Group graced the April meeting with her presence. It is pleasing that certain individuals and organizations are willing and prepared to assist members as they age.

Tours

Thirty-three members enjoyed a mystery bus tour - led by guide, Kay Lambert - to the Mid North town of Auburn. There is little that Kay doesn’t know about this lovely township. Her efforts, and those of coach captain, Corrie DeWit, made the day extremely enjoyable.

Secretary’s Progress

RPOA secretary, Shirley Phillips, is progressing slowly. It may be some time before she resumes production of this column. Shirley has had a few visitors, but more would be welcome. While visiting Shirley at the Hampstead Centre, members should also pay a visit to 93-year-old veteran, Hazel Millowick.

RPOA Award

RPOA president, Les Morris, recently presented Michael Smith (course 17) and Garry Goodeve (course 18) with RPOA awards. Both probationary constables were overjoyed with their awards.

Instruction

The Police Credit Union will arrange a seminar in which RPOA members will be instructed on the use of automatic banking facilities and computers.

Raffles

Nan Morris and Joy Teague arranged an outstanding Easter raffle. Many members were recipients, but the assistant secretary was no winner. That’s the luck of the draw.

Meetings

RPOA meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month. Police Credit Union members services officer, Heather Hemingway, will vocally entertain the May meeting.
